Retinol at 0.3% in a simple jojoba oil base. A starting rung on the Vitamin A ladder, used at night only.

Retinol at 0.3% in an oil base of jojoba and silicones with tocopheryl acetate — nine ingredients in total, which is unusually short for a serum.

Retinol needs two conversion steps inside the skin before it becomes active, which is why the percentages look high next to retinal. Phase it in rather than starting nightly: twice a week for two weeks, every second night for two more, then nightly if the skin has settled.

Sunscreen the next morning is part of using Vitamin A, not an optional extra. Not for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Actives: Retinol 0.3%

Suits: Skin starting Vitamin A. Four drops at night.

Not for: Not for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Skin that is currently reactive should settle first.
